Getting Pet Dandruff Out of Your Carpet

If you are a pet lover, you know the joy of having one. Unfortunately, even pets get dandruff and you need to keep it out of your carpet

Getting Pet Dandruff Out of Your Carpet

Having a pet can be quite an expensive proposition. Aside from having to care for your pet by feeding it, grooming and regular check ups, there are also other expenses that you might not have thought of.

Keeping your home clean when you have a pet can cost more, and it can also be a matter of health. Many people are allergic to pets of one kind or another, with the most allergenic pets being cats and dogs. Unfortunately, for families that own pets, getting rid of them because of an allergy is not always an option. For this reason, keeping the house clean and free of pet dandruff is essential in having a home that's happy and healthy for the whole family.

When you have a pet, there is one huge reason for keeping carpets clean - pet dandruff. Pet dandruff is actually dead skin cells that are constantly being shed by animals. All animals have to shed their dead skin cells (yes, humans too!) but these skin flakes can be especially bad in certain species. Cats and dogs (even so-called hairless or short haired breeds) produce large amounts of pet dandruff. When this dandruff comes in contact with a person who is allergic to it, that person can have symptoms such as those from hay fever - runny nose, sneezing, itchy eyes and even swelling. The only animals that have been found to not have dandruff are those that are completely hairless such as snakes and lizards.

Pet dandruff removal can be one way to cut down a person's exposure to this allergenic substance. Be sure to always use a vacuum with HEPA filtration (this will cut down on the airborne particles of dandruff that ordinary vacuums throw into the air), and vacuum your home frequently. If possible, remove carpeting from areas where you sleep, like the bedroom, so that you will not be exposed to dandruff overnight.

You can also install HEPA air filters in the rooms of your home where your pet frequents - this way, any airborne dandruff will be removed. Finally, bathe your pet at least once a week to keep the dandruff levels on their skin down. Some people will not be able to keep their pets, even with these modifications, but try these steps before "getting rid" of your pet. If you follow these tips, you'll be sure to have a more comfortable time with your dog or cat!

How To Care For Carpets

Interior decorating is a vast field. So, you need to know beforehand as to what you are looking for, in terms of interior decorating. Flooring or floor decorating is significant like any other decorating. Sometimes, we tend to overlook the importance of good floor decorating, assuming that after all it is a place for foot. But, the fact is that floors do not escape the eyes of guests. They are not immune to soiling either.

Whatever be the quality of your flooring tiles, they need to be supported by carpets and rugs. At the same time, it is a known fact that carpets are costly and make us almost empty our purse if we opt for classic products like Oriental carpets.

Their cost is a motivating factor for us to keep them in good condition and prolong their life as much as possible. The steps and concepts in carpet cleaning and care should be understood and adopted for maintaining the beauty and value of carpets.
Carpets have to be regularly cleaned to avoid accumulation of dirt and soiling, which will harm the texture as well as the appearance of the carpets. For this, it is better if you have a clear plan of carpet cleaning and fix a regular time for doing it.

Actually, carpet care starts right from the day it is bought and spread out. Regular and thorough vacuum cleaning, also known as ?deep cleaning?, is a must for keeping them in a good condition and to remove residues. It is important to clean the edges and corners more thoroughly as they are the most likely hideouts of dust, dirt, and other unnoticed soils.

You need to choose the appropriate method of cleaning based on the nature of the carpet fiber and its qualities. For example, wool may not withstand excessive heat and abrasion. However, the manufacturers are aware of these difficulties and provide cleaning manuals along with the carpets.

Most of the carpets available in the market today are made up of artificial or synthetic fibers, which are easy to use and maintain. They are designed in such a way that they hide soils and spills- but, only for a short time. If the spills are left unattended to for a longer time, then they are bound to have a telling effect on the elegance of the carpet. Stains and spills may be of various kinds and hence may need different methods of cleaning. For example, pet stains should be cleaned immediately to prevent the carpet from extensive damage. Some stains require hot water cleaning, while others need to be blotted out using cold water and a white cloth. It is important to remember that stains should not be scrubbed. Some tough spills may require constant repeated cleaning.

Many cleaning agents, solutions, liquids, etc. are available in the market. But, it is better to choose a mild cleaning agent instead of strong ones, which may also be harmful to your health as well as environment. Use precautionary measures like wearing gloves, goggles, masks, etc. while using cleaning solutions.

Always, the best option for carpet cleaning is to approach a professional and get him to do it. Remember that your carpet is always prone to soiling and damage even though you might not notice it at first sight. These stains and spills are the most harmful to the carpet?s life and durability. Fine dust is invisible to our eyes but settles in the bottom layers of the carpet and cuts the fibers. This, in turn, will make your costly carpet lose its sheen and brightness.

Carpet care and cleaning is not a one-time process. It has to be undertaken regularly and thoroughly to make the carpet retain its original beauty and appearance.
