When the time comes to have your carpets cleaned you will have a lot of choices. One is which method of cleaning do you want and another is, will it void your warrantee. If you do not have a warrantee then you are left with finding the best cleaning method and that is the reason for writing this page.

You have heard of dry cleaning carpet but is it really dry cleaning? The answer is no, and is it really cleaning the carpet? The answer is that it appears to be. If you have heavily soiled traffic lanes then do not even consider dry cleaning.

Why not chose the dry cleaning method? Dry cleaning has no extraction procedure. The big question after a dry cleaning job is where did the dirt go? With no extraction it is obvious that it is still there. I worked for a dry cleaning company when I first began my carpet cleaning venture and I assure you that all the dirt and stains on your carpet are merely smeared around the room to the rest of the carpet which gives it the illusion of being clean, believe it or not when I asked the owner of the company ?where dose the dirt go??, that was his answer "the illusion of clean". If you have heavily soiled traffic areas most of that dirt is worked into the carpet backing and even into the padding under the carpet with a floor buffer

Here is a good example of why you should not use the dry cleaning method. My neighbor is a maintenance super visor for a commercial building in Dallas Texas. He asked me ?How dose a buffer remove dirt on carpet and where dose the dirt go?? I told him that it was not getting clean, it was being camouflaged. He asked me to prove it to his boss so a few days later I pulled my cleaning wand over an area of the carpet and it turned black as night! His boss shuttered because it was obvious that all of those years dirt was just being pushed so deep into the carpet that it was on the concrete below. I pulled up a section of carpet and uncovered the truth. The concrete looked like a sand box!

He later replaced the carpet and never used dry cleaning again. The same company was cleaning his house as well but I was able to replace the pad, clean the concrete and his carpet. Now he only uses the steam cleaning method also known as Hot Water Extraction. I am not trying to bash dry cleaners here. I am trying to give you the knowledge to make a wise decision when it comes to cleaning your carpet.

Don?t just take my word for it. Take the word of carpet manufactures. Shaw and Mohawk prefer steam cleaning over any other method. They are two of the largest in the world. In fact other cleaning methods may void your warrantee. With steam cleaning you know where the dirt goes! It is flushed out with hot water and instantly removed with extreme vacuum power and ultimately winds up in a recovery tank in a van parked out side. The cleaning solutions used by dry cleaning companies are also left behind but not with steam cleaning because?.they have extreme vacuum power.
